About Clifton

  • Clifton Machining, Inc. was founded in 1938 by Harry Clifton. The business was operated at 217 West 11th Street in Erie, PA. In 1973, the business was sold to the Podufal family who continued operating at the same location. In 1979, the Podufals bought Wolf Metal Products at 9937 Sampson Ave. in Lake City, PA. They then combined the operations at the Lake City site and sold the Erie plant and the excess equipment. The name Clifton Machining, Inc. was retained.
  • Certified ISO 9001:2008, Clifton Machining is a precision machine job shop, specializing in the manufacture of high volume precision machined parts and tube cutting. The company provides high quality products and services to a world wide customer base that includes world leaders in the rubber bonded to metal industry, plastics companies, some of the largest appliance and automotive manufacturers and assorted OEM businesses. Clifton Machining is a member of Precision Machined Products Association (PMPA) and the Northwest Manufacturers' Association.
  • Clifton Machining´s products are mainly produced from aluminum, brass, copper, carbon and stainless steel bar and tubing. The parts are manufactured according to specifications and drawings provided by the customer. Clifton Machining uses certified vendors for outside sourcing of special processes such as plating and heat treating. .

In addition to continuing our quality initiative, Clifton is also working to reduce lead times and lower prices with new machinery and tooling.

  • Our objective is to perform to this level for a further sixty years. In order to do so we must stay abreast of the latest management, manufacturing, and quality techniques and methodology. Our customers are continuously being challenged to provide better products and we want to continue to supply them with the products they require.
  • Clifton Machining´s Quality Objective is to have no products returned from our customers in a twelve month consecutive period. This applies not only to the product quality, but to all areas of our customers' contracts.
  • Clifton Machining is very active in the Manufacturer's Association of Northwest Pennsylvania and the Precision Machined Parts Association. Both of these organizations provide training programs and seminars concerning quality, management, employee relations, and machining techniques. Employees are also sent venues for training and continuous education as they become available.
  • Clifton Machining has been in business for over sixty years. It has passed customer audits and won awards from customers such as Lord Corporation, Johnson Controls, PHB Inc., Ensign Bickford and Werner Co.
